This is my mug.
I got it many years ago when I worked at a local newspaper. I was covering a Degas exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the curator gave me the mug as a thank-you after I interviewed her. I’ve held on to my “Degas Mug” (even though the print is actually Renoir) ever since.
The problem with coffee mugs is that, once a day, you handle them before you’ve had any coffee. And sometimes, this happens.
Insert sad trombone sound here.
That occurred two years ago, but the cup has remained on my desk, and at this point I’ve had it for close to a decade. I’ve used other mugs since, but that has still remained “my mug.” There’s a memory attached to it, and to the decoration, that can’t be broken as easily as a C-handle. I know I’m not the only person out there with their preferred drinkware.
Much as I love that cup, I can’t use it, so I’m in the market for a new one. We’ve got more than 2,000 mugs on our search engine, like Logomark’s cool Ceramic Mug with caffeine-deprived-klutz-proof steel handle, but none of them are “my mug” yet.
So I’m fishing for advice here. What mug do you reach for in the morning and why? Post some links and images in the comments and show me your ugly mug. Or your nice-looking mug. Yeah, do that instead.
